The IT Challenge

Mississippi State University needed a complete phone system overhaul. With the Starkville, Miss, campus sprawling across 4,200 acres and hosting 23,000 students and 4,500 members of staff, that would not be a simple task. The school's CIO Steve Parrott knew he wanted state-of-the-art Hosted VoIP technology for its reliability, scalability and numerous calling features. But, unfortunately, a complete overhaul of the dated phone system was out of reach for a number of reasons.

For starters, the size and complexity of upgrading the legacy MSU phone system of 6,000+ phones would take a remarkably flexible solution and highly accommodating, detail-oriented VoIP provider. "The sheer magnitude of the project was somewhat mindboggling," said Steve Parrott, CIO at MSU. And, most importantly, the expense had always put an infrastructure upgrade out of reach.

That is until MSU partnered with C Spire Business.

The IT Solution

Creating the right VoIP solution for MSU hinged on customization, training and support. From creating special dialing patterns to providing dedicated account managers and support teams, no request from the MSU IT team was too much for C Spire Business as it spent the past two years upgrading the campus' phone system. "C Spire VoIP has been a big, big win for us," said Mississippi State University CIO Steve Parrott.
