The IT Challenge
The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) is a premier sports, convention, and entertainment complex in the heart of downtown Birmingham that draws more than 1 million visitors each year. In late 2021, BJCC unveiled its new 42,000-seat capacity Protective Stadium, home of University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) football, and the completely redesigned 15,000-seat Legacy Arena.
Bringing cutting-edge speed, security, and dependability to the venues was a top priority, so BJCC turned to C Spire, their technology partner of more than 20 years, to help them determine their options.
The IT Solution
C Spire delivered a converged network that can be operated and managed with a very lean support staff, bringing simplicity to one of the most complex, multi-use venues in the country. The design used Cisco's data center, campus, wireless, and security solutions.
"They needed a segmented, and automated wireless network infrastructure that could seamlessly power their digital signage, security cameras, access controls, hundreds of points of sale, and thousands of people in the venues," said Jeremy Sanders, Director of Emerging Technologies at C Spire. "So, we built a converged network that would never run out of speed, never go down and never be insecure."
“We absolutely, unabashedly recommend C Spire to any company looking to make a change in their technology infrastructure.”
