The Need

With millions of motorists on Alabama roads daily, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) carries a tremendous amount of responsibility. The Department is accountable for statewide transportation across Alabama’s 12,000 miles of state, U.S. and interstate highways. When ALDOT wanted to improve their roadside assistance program’s efficiency and driver safety, they called on the expert engineers at C Spire Business.

The Solution

Over a two-year period, ALDOT worked with C Spire Business and its technology partner Cisco to design and perform upgrades to the fleet of trucks behind ALDOT’s Alabama Service and Assistance Patrol (ASAP) program. The result? Trucks with connectivity, IoT and artificial intelligence that accomplish real-time situational awareness video feeds with machine-learning capabilities. The state of Alabama now experiences next-generation roadside assistance thanks to C Spire.
